Leaving staff share their favorite moments at Gunn

The best part about working at Gunn was co-teaching the ninth and 10th grade English classes and U.S. History with 11th graders. I got to work with many of my students for three years!

The Small Learning Communities (SLC) Yosemite trips have collectively been the highlight from my time at Gunn so far. Last school year, right before the pandemic, all three SLC teachers were able to go for the first time in [all] seven trips. The photo of both SLC classes and the SLC teachers amongst the tent cabins is among my favorites, and I spend most of my free time with a camera in hand. ...

One of my favorite memories was on Halloween in 2019. A student in my class dressed up in a really great costume. It was a little spooky. When I saw her costume, it brought back childhood memories and reminded me of my best friend in elementary school. That student brightened up my day! I am leaving PAUSD to move back to Orange County....

One really fun memory that stands out during my time here at Gunn was chaperoning  “Calculus Camp.”  A few years back, the Gunn Math department hosted a camp before AP Exams, where students spent a weekend in a cabin in the woods doing calculus problems. It was such great fun spending time with students (and doing some great math problems). I am truly going to miss the Gunn community!...

One of my favorite memories at Gunn is participating in Airbands. Watching the amazing routines the students create and the adrenaline rush of making a fool of myself dancing in front of the school was always a blast! I have been on leave this whole school year and will be taking one more year off to be with my kiddos (one is seven months and the other is three and a half years old). I can't pick one particular memory from Gunn that I hold dear, but something that stands out is the spirit embodied by our incredible staff. Some sing their hearts out in the musical, others show off their dance moves in Airbands. Man...

I remember being so lost my first time on campus and wandering around at the beginning of the school year, stumbling to find where I was supposed to go.  On one particularly lost morning, I was fortunate to have run into multiple student volunteers handing out The Oracle. I took more than one paper just to ask students where certain rooms were....
