Gunn should work for students. Too often, student government becomes a cycle of vague promises, forgotten initiatives, and the same ideas repackaged year after year –lowering prom ticket prices, making the school “more spirited”, or hosting the same events year after year. I’m running for ASB President because I believe our school deserves real changes, that make a direct impact on your daily life. I’m not here to make empty promises. I’m not part of the usual ASB crowd. I’m not running just to add this to my college apps. I’m running because I believe student government should be about you, I’m here to deliver tangible results. Let’s make Gunn work for students. Vote Iris for ASB President.

Hey Titans! I’m Roy Lao and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent the student body as your ASB President. Six years in student government have taught me many important lessons—none of which are as vital, however, as the true power of empathy. True leadership isn’t just about making decisions—it’s also about understanding the voices behind them.

It is with your help that the past two years as your class president have been so amazing. Throughout these years, I have witnessed firsthand the magic of harnessing our collective power and spirit. Under my leadership, the class of 2026 has generated a remarkable net profit of $5,400, a fact which helped us lower the prom prices this year. Our class’s float participation rate also increased by about six times as compared to our freshman year. While it’s easy for me to bear responsibility for this success, in truth it was the result of your input, your ideas, and your belief in me.

As ASB President, I’d like to continue this trend of open communication by implementing regular public reviews of your submitted feedback and suggestions, likely in video form. Something else I’d like to do for you is hold regular student-led upperclassmen panels on topics where their insight would be appreciated, such as advice on course selection or local job opportunities.

As the semester hits full swing, I’m asking for your faith in me one final time as I run to be your ASB President.
