Roy Lao: Sophomore Class President

Hi Titan class of 2026! I’m excited to be running for the position of your sophomore class president for the 2023-2024 school year. To be a good class president, one needs to carry certain paramount qualities, qualities that I am lucky enough to possess. I have plenty of experience being on student council, as I had the privilege of being Fletcher Middle School’s student body president and 6th-grade commissioner. I’m involved in Gunn’s diving team and orchestra, so naturally, I will pay attention to all athletic and performance events. As an athlete and musician at Gunn, I also interact with students from all other grade levels on a daily basis, so I get a multitude of perspectives on certain topics. I’m grateful for the amazing first year of high school that the class of 2026 has granted me, and this is why I am fully devoted to streamlining student input to SEC as efficiently as possible. To the vast majority of students, SEC seems like an omnipresent, mysterious force that controls all happenings at Gunn with no rhyme or reason; something pulled straight out of George Orwell’s novel, 1984.
