Chris Lee: School Board Student Representative

Hi, my name is Chris Lee and I’m running to be your next School Board Representative. I’m running to be SBR because I believe student voices matter, and it’s important that we’re at the table contributing our perspectives. As a News Editor for The Oracle, I’ve come to appreciate the value of a conversation. From writing articles about declining school enrollments to the Tinsley Voluntary Transfer Program, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to speak to students and staff members about their unique experiences with issues I otherwise wouldn’t have known about. Thus, my main goal as SBR will be to foster and facilitate these conversations between the school board, SEC, the student body, and administrators. I plan to make this objective happen through more town halls, consistent board updates, and the creation of a resource detailing how students can get in touch with district officials. Ultimately, I know that this job won’t be easy and that there are barriers to effecting change. With this in mind, however, I promise that I will always focus on listening to different perspectives and being an effective liaison. Thank you, and remember, don’t miss Chris because the key is Lee!
